BEYOND AFRAID...
It was an experiment in fear. Eight people, each chosen because they lived through a terrifying experience. Survivors. They don't scare easily. They know how to fight back. BEYOND TRAPPED... Each is paid a million dollars to spend one night in a house. The old Butler House, where those grisly murders occurred so many years ago. A house that is supposedly haunted. BEYOND ENDURANCE... They can take whatever they want with them. Religious items. Survival gear. Weapons. All they need to do is last the night. But there is something evil in this house. Something very evil, and very real. And when the dying starts, it comes with horrifying violence and brutal finality. There are much scarier things than ghosts. Things that will kill you slowly and delight in your screams. Things that won't let you get out alive. HAUNTED HOUSE by JA KONRATH People are dying to leave. JA Konrath, author of AFRAID, TRAPPED, and ENDURANCE, brings back some favorite characters from those earlier novels and puts them through his own unique brand of hell. One that hurts real bad. One that will scare you to death. Are you brave enough? About The Konrath Horror Collective The Konrath Horror Collective is not a series. Okay, so I listened to the audible of this version, so I didn't witness any of the editing errors I saw other reviews note. I also didn't know that this was a sequel (I pay so much attention, I know hahaha), but while I did wonder about the background of a couple of characters, I feel like this book was just fine as a standalone. Though I fully intend to get the other books ASAP!
I absolutely freaking LOVED this book! The characters were amazing, even if my favorite one DID die (no names, you'll have to find out for yourself!). Their interactions were great, and to me, the felt very genuine. The fear reaction in one male character, in particular, was so spot on for me, it gave me the chills. The story, in general, was deliciously creepy and tension-filled, and you scarcely had a moment to stop and catch your breath. I don't know why there were so many smart monkeys in this, but I very much approve! This was just amazing, and I highly recommend it to horror lovers. Also, the narrator was AWESOME!
