Review
I've been reading graphic novels, comics, and manga for nearly two decades but I have never reviewed one of them before - let alone one that I read AFTER seeing the movie/show, so this is different for me.
Anyway, I started the show while last season was going on and I liked it enough to be ashamed that I wasn't reading the books first. What kind of nerd doesn't read the books first?! A shameful one!
There's some differences between the show and the graphic novel. Different characters. Different scenes. Shane isn't nearly as big of a character, which I'm glad about - because I did not need that drama. This also made Lori much more likable.
It was interesting seeing the beginning all over again, even if things were not the exact same. Glenn and Dale are still awesome and Shane is still an asshat.
I enjoyed the artwork. Especially in the action scenes. They weren't so much that it was hard to keep up with, which I've seen all too often in comics/manga/graphic novels. The characters, even the ones I didn't know from the show, were easy to follow - even though a whole gaggle had been introduced about the same time.
It didn't have the same extent of craziness as the show, but it is still obviously dramatic because there's a freaking zombie apocalypse happening!
I thought it was awesome, easy to follow, and I think it is something zombie lovers should read. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
