Vincent Li always assumed he’d die in Oakwood. If the local gangs didn’t get him, then cigarettes and alcohol eventually would. Now, he’s pretty sure minotaurs will kill him instead, and if not them, the ghouls dragging people into the dark will. In the wake of an unexplained spike in homicides, a masked figure opens portals to another world—a world filled with dangerous magic and mythological monsters. Creatures that shouldn’t exist suddenly do, and they don’t mix well with humans. Vincent is trapped in Oakwood as the city is torn apart, but he’s no stranger to violence and will do whatever it takes to survive. |

Roach wiped sweat from his brow with an impatient whine. “Okay, fine. Listen, I came to save you, Vincent.” He flashed a greasy grin, making his chin crease in two. “Lucky you’re here too, Dante. I can probably save you as well.”
“Save us from what?” Vincent demanded. “You’re not making any sense.”
Roach checked over his shoulders, then pressed his face near the screen. “You must’ve been seeing all that shit on the news lately, right?” he whispered in a low, secretive tone. “Let’s just say things are about to get a lot worse.” He hesitated, concern etched into his face. “I’m just trying to do some good before it’s too late.”
“Are you talking about the disappearances?” Dante asked. “What do you know about that?"
Vincent’s eyes hardened. “No, whatever bullshit you’re trying to pull us into, we don’t want any part of it.” He began to shut the door, but Roach slammed his hand into the screen.
“Wait! I’m not fucking around this time, guys. This is serious. If you don’t come with me, you aren’t gonna make it in the new world.” He looked between the brothers for some kind of answer, but got nothing. “Just put this on and come with me.” Roach produced a necklace with a smooth lump of silver dangling from it.
Dante gave him a pitying look. “Good night, Roach.”
