“What do you think you are doing with our chattel?” demanded Heston.
“After I fix them up? By the looks, I’d say hitting the food court,” said Gani.
“Come out here!” Heston ordered triggering the mind control. Four of them started to move.
“Be still,” ordered Gani. The four froze. While her brother sleeps, she is able to tap into some of his power and Merlin is a magí same as Hex. They are both supposed to be in the same power category. Gani knows more than either of them, which makes her as effective, if not as powerful. The snow-haired mage waved as the doors closed. Heston charged and pounded on them. A few seconds later they glowed and vanished, but Heston was still pounding so hard he put a hole in the wall.
“Don’t you hate it when someone won’t hold the elevator door for you?” I said.
“You will bring our property back,” shouted Heston. The dance floor had pretty much cleared by this point and his four vamp friends had moved in a semi-circle around me.
“Not going to happen,” I said.
“Then you will replace them yourself,” he said.
“So are all Dubbelsuckers…” I intentionally mispronounced the name assuming Gani had correctly ID’ed the breed. “Delusional or is it just you?”
“You think one lone woman can beat five Dubbelsuger vampyres?”
“You’re right. It is unfair. Do you have any other friends who’d be willing to help you out?” I said.
“I’m going to enjoy feeding on you. The things I’m going to make you do will make you beg me to let you meet Death,” ranted Heston.
Layla had moved to watch. I looked at her and she nodded. Heston was about to violate both the no fighting and feeding rules. I was doing this anyway, but it was nice to know I had the management’s blessing. I pulled out the two-way radio.
Heston laughed. “So you are calling for help.”
“Nope.” I pushed the talk button. “Lock this place down.”
