The binoculars were some that he’d had for a number of years and were military grade. He adjusted them so that he could get an accurate digital distance readout and then dialed in to see more clearly. At first, he couldn’t get a location on the smoke, but slowly started scanning left and right. Out of the corner of his left eye, he saw something so he scanned more towards it. He could then see there was a cabin, a woman outside running around, and a truck. Then he noticed the smoke. Holy crap, her cabin’s on fire, he thought as he jumped up. Grabbing his radio, he jumped in his truck and found a way across the river. Then he gunned the engine to get to the cabin.
Speeding over the terrain, he kept looking up from where he was driving to the cabin, trying to not damage the truck and saw the plume of smoke getting bigger. Knowing that this could be worse than he might be able to handle, he pressed the gas a bit more, and the truck leaped forward, bouncing through the grassy underbrush.
As Jayson was pushing his truck to the limits to get there, at the cabin Sasha was frantic. The cabin was on fire, and she had no way to control it. All of her belongings, minus what she still had in the truck and now on the ground, were in there. Suddenly, a truck pulled up and a guy jumped out, quickly grabbing a fire extinguisher. Sasha was going to say something, but he ran right by her, and started to use it on the fire.
Sasha decided words could be said later, and then it dawned on her. “Wait a second! I have one too!” she exclaimed to herself running to get the small one in the truck. Grabbing the extinguisher she turned around to see him running back to his truck and flinging the now empty fire extinguisher into the bed and ripping open the driver door. Not sure what he was doing, she just watched him for a moment and saw him come out with another extinguisher.
He didn’t pause and ran back to the fire. This caused Sasha to jump and she started after him. Who is this guy, she was wondering as she was trying to focus on the flames and getting them put out. Where did he come from, she thought, as she didn’t remember there being another cabin in the area that she knew about. She looked over at him and saw he knew exactly what he was doing. He was using the fire extinguisher expertly to battle the flames. Between the two of them, they were able to put the fire out, but the cabin had already met its demise.
