The choice was clear. Wasn’t it…?
Zach and his family made it impossible for Tatum to be his girlfriend. Nigel made it oh-so-easy for Tate to move on. But the shock of seeing Zach again, of finally meeting his mobster family, and even coming face to face with his fiancé, convinced Tatum more than ever that Nigel was the one for her. Tatum knows Zach still dreams of one day sharing his life with her, but Nigel offers her his life now – no dreaming necessary. And while Zach spends a month entertaining the fiancé that has been forced upon him by his family, why shouldn’t Tatum take her relationship with Nigel to the next level? When Nigel betrays Tatum, her heart is broken. What once was clear becomes dark. She finds herself by Zach’s side yet again, needing him in a way she never imagined. Zach or Nigel? The decision isn’t easy because Tatum has learned the hard way— Choices last a moment. Consequences last forever. |

We got out of the car and walked up to the house. Di was more than a friend to me, she was a sister. She understood me and supported like only a sister could. I loved her very much.
We walked into the front door. The moment the door closed behind Di, my mom yelled, “Tatum, come here. Right now.”
I turned back to Di and whispered, “And so it begins.”
Di stood frozen with bulging eyes. I whipped around and a hand smacked me across the face. I went flying into the coffee table.
“Oh my god, Tate.” Di dropped to the floor behind me.
I took my hand to my forehead and rubbed the dent where my head had collided with the table, then examined my fingertips for blood. They were clear.
“What the hell is this?” my mom yelled.
I turned back to her and she flashed the pee stick. How did she get that? I put that in my nightstand. Ugh, my cheek burned.
“Cindy, what the hell is going on?” Dad came running up from the basement. “What fell?”
Toni stood in the hallway crying. “Daddy, Mommy knocked Tatey down. Hewp her.”
Di grabbed under my armpits and pulled me upright.
My mom became Mr. Hyde. Her pupils were tiny and her eyebrows arched. “I found this pregnancy test in the bathroom trash. You’re pregnant?”
Dad turned the corner into the living room and noticed Di helping me to my feet and ran over to grab me. “What the hell, Cindy. Did you knock her down?”
My mom shoved the pregnancy stick in his face.
He took it. “Tate, is this yours?” He looked at me, his faced drained of blood.
“Dad, please listen. It is—” I sat down on the couch. My head hurt.
Dad shot a dirty look at my mom. “We can be pissed, but don’t you lay a hand on my daughter again.”
Di hid in the front corner by the door, whispering on her mobile. I couldn’t hear who she was talking to.
Poor Toni sat in the doorway crying.
“Tone, come here. I’m okay,” I waved for her to come to me.
She ran and sat next to me. I patted her back. Gizmo barked in the backyard and then ran through the doggie door flap. He joined Toni.
