A successful race horse farm’s trainer is key and William Becker was going to make certain that losing that key neither in the wake of a broken heart involving his daughter nor the sinister acts of another employee was not going to happen to his farm, his legacy.
J.P. Ryan came from little and was left alone in the world at a vulnerable age. The offer to apprentice as a trainer for a prestigious race horse farm had been a fortunate opportunity. But when a jealous barn hand turns sinister and J.P.’s faced with the choice to risk throwing away four years of apprenticing, a place to live and daily meals over his boss’ seventeen year old daughter or to forget about her, the beautiful, sweet girl he wanted, J.P.’s dream job became cruel work.
Renee's Review
Crewel Work by Natalie Alder was a really good book with really genuine characters. Alder wrote a really sweet story that is just too good to be missed. Who can resist the pull of that tender first love for a girl! Just beautifully written and so romantic!
J.P. was in love with Audra. Audra was the most beautiful young woman he had seen; he had practically watch Audra grow up over the last few years. Audra was kind, caring and compassionate. J.P. longed to touch her skin, taste her lips, and run his hands through her hair. However, Audra was off-limits to him. Audra was the bosses daughter. J.P. had worked so hard to get where he was but would he would risk it all to be with Audra.
Audra had been lusting after J.P. for years. Audra was a young 16 when their passion starts to take a turn; J.P. is five years older than her. J.P. had a gorgeous body and wore his hair just a little longer than most of the farm-hands and he was amazing with the horses. Audra loved when she ran into him in the stables and they would chat about little things and she could watch him train horses for hours. No matter how much Audra wants J.P. she has to realize that her father has forbidden her to have a relationship with any of the employees.
As Audra gets older, her desire for J.P. continues to grow and J.P. notices the changes in Audra. They are pulled together like magnets. They are meant to be together. J.P. is worried that he won't be able to resist Audra for much longer. Considering her age and who her father is he worries how to handle things but decides after her 18th birthday that he can't live without Audra. J.P. worries that Audra's father will not allow them to date but they both hate sneaking around to try to be together.
This is a story about young love. There are some twists and turns along with some drama and scary moments, but in the end, love wins out! When your heart knows it has met its other half, you have to take the chance. You have to fight for the love you feel you can't live without!
