Batman: Year One by Frank Miller My rating: 5 of 5 stars Well... Well... I honestly did not expect to like this as much as did. Who doesn't know Batman's origin story? We've all seen the movies and tv shows. Therefore I was kinda hesitant in reading this novel but its been named one of the best graphic novels on every list that I have seen. I didn't want to read a story I heard a million times. What I didn't expect was to come out with a different perspective on well known characters such as Gordon and Catwoman. This was also published in 1987 but it didn't feel dated at all. I also really enjoyed the afterword by artist David Mazzucchelli. The afterword actually made this graphic novel go from a 4 stars to a 5 star read. I would recommend this graphic novel to anyone who likes a good superhero story. View all my reviews | |
I grew up watching Batman the TV show with Adam West and the cartoons back in the 90s. Of course I've seen all of the movies but I have to admit I haven't read much of Batman. This year I decided to change all that and embarked on reading Batman Year One by Frank Miller. Below is my 5 platypire review on this great graphic novel.
