Below is my 4 platypire review of Contagious by Emily Goodwin.
Synopsis:
"I wasn’t afraid of death. If I died, it would be over. My worst fear wasn’t of dying, it was of living. Living, while everyone around me had their flesh savagely torn from their bodies to be shoved into the festering and ever-hungry mouths of zombies. It terrified me, right down to my very core, to be alive while the rest of the world was dead."
In the midst of the Second Great Depression, twenty-five year old Orissa Penwell doesn't think things can get any worse. She couldn't be more wrong. A virus breaks out across the country, leaving the infected crazed, aggressive and very hungry.
Orissa will do anything-no matter if it's right or wrong- to save the ones she loves. But when she discovers that most of the world is infected or dead, she must decided if those lives are worth saving at all.
My Review:
Contagious by Emily Goodwin My rating: 4 of 5 stars "Once again , I woke up from a drug-induced sleep— this time in restraints. It wasn’t the first time it had happened, but this was very different than my wild night with Danny Merdock— a story for another time." Its no secret that I love the Zombie genre but I've lately it seems that I haven't had a really good one to sink my teeth in. Luckily, Contagious by Emily Goodwin did not disappoint. It had a pretty bad a$$ heroine, Orissa Penwell, that I immediately liked. I always judge "my girls" on how much they are bad a$$ compared to Buffy. Yeah.. Yeah... Buffy has powers so I do give some leeway. So on a Buffy scale Orissa has really high marks. Contagious had really good high level "oh $hit" moments that I really enjoyed. My only real complaints were the fact that at times the story kinda lagged and the sexual tension between Orissa & Hayden went on for too long. But, other than that I really enjoyed the story and that fu*king ending was pretty sweet! Gotta read the next book soon. I would recommend this story for those looking for a zombie story with a powerful female lead. View all my reviews | |
