Synopsis:
Lucy,
I don’t even know how to start this letter.
Something happened. Something terrible . . .
Lucy was always sure of one thing – her future with husband and soulmate Luke. But after eight long, heartbreaking years trying to have a baby, that future is crumbling before her eyes.
When a terrible accident puts Luke into a coma, Lucy is forced to reassess everything she thought she wanted.
Then a woman arrives with a shocking secret that will force Lucy to make the hardest decision of her life.
As compelling and powerful as Jojo Moyes and Liane Moriarty, Pieces of You is a heart-rending, haunting and ultimately life-affirming novel about a love tested to its limits
My 2 1/2 Platypire Review:
Pieces of You by Ella Harper My rating: 3 of 5 stars I got this free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. 2 1/2 stars/platypire for this book. I truly do not know where to start with this review. I feel I might end up giving away spoilers. I think with the synopsis I already knew the book was going to be about adultery and I was fine with that. I thought the premise sounded very interesting. A couple struggling to conceive and one of them ends up in a coma. Then in walks in the other woman... I guess I was expecting something else. What I got was 3 different POVs from the important females in the male leads life. It's more of an examination of marriage, family and the struggles a couple faces to conceive a child. The issue I had was that I didn't really like Luke, the male leads sister and sometimes his mother. Everybody was completely dependent on him and he really came across as the perfect guy. He was funny, nice, romantic, dependable, good looking and just over all a great guy. But nobody is perfect and I started not faulting him for his actions and I didn't hate the other woman. Which I thought was weird. Also the book is just a sad book for the most part. Yeah, I know life isn't rainbows and unicorns but I wasn't expecting it to be totally depressing. Anyways, the book isn't bad. I just think it just wasn't for me. View all my reviews | |
