I was given this book in exchange for a honest review. By The adventures continue for the crew of the Dame Fortuna in this second installment of the series. I must admit, though there are more action scenes in this book, it seemed to drag in places. The crew's motivation for chase and conflict as told through Mr. Watts' journals get a bit bogged down and repetitive in the first half of the book. Then there is a long recovery layover which even Mr. Watts' logs declare to be mundane. Fortunately, the explorations restart in the last third and leave this edition on a high point. The story is still well told and has some interesting plot twists changed my perception of several characters from the last volume. Overall I enjoyed this book, just not as much as the first one.
I recommend this book to any who love steampunk or classical style historical fiction, and award it 4 platypires.
