Review
It's weird, I always avoid historical fiction, and then I read a historical fiction book, enjoy it, tell myself I should read more, and then proceed to avoid the crap out of historical fiction again until another one is begrudgingly thrust upon me. This read was for bookclub, and I've really missed going to bookclub, so I really had to read this. Unsurprisingly, given that lead in, I enjoyed it.
It's told from four different points of view, so that's a thing. It's I have mixed opinions on when that happens, but it worked out well for this story. I particularly enjoyed hating Alfred. I found him to be a great source of comedic relief, through his delusions.
I hope I actually start branching out and read more historical fiction, this book was really interesting and enlightening.
