The second installment of this series has more twists and turns with the tension building as some of the greater plot reveals itself. It continues with several story arcs from the first book merging and some mysteries being answered. But, new arcs open and in some ways I’m left wondering even more what is really going on? Some factions continue the quest to return the legendary small gods to the world, and bring about humanity's fall while others support the goddess who banished them in the first place. All I’m sure about is that most of the factions in this world have ulterior motives for everything they do. I still don’t know who the ‘good guys’ are and am half tempted to wish the apocalyptic goals pan out. Mr. Blake is very good at portraying the darker side of humanity and makes me wonder if the small gods’ return wouldn't be all that bad after all. I give this book 5 Platypires! |
