About the Book
Melinda Monroe may have come to Virgin River looking for escape, but instead she finds her home.
“Honey, I have a feeling he doesn’t think of you as a friend. Have you seen the way he looks at you?”
She glanced at him and as if he could feel her gaze, he turned his eyes on her. Soft and hard all at once. “Yeah,” Mel said. “He promised to stop doing that.”
Review
Anyway, this was one of the picks for October and I was able to join in the conversation. So that was good times. I really need to start reading more things with other people, because I read too much stuff nobody else I know reads and then they're all lame because they have no idea what I'm talking about.
Okay, so on the topic of this... it kinda reminds me of Archer's Voice... there's a lot of similarities actually. Except this one doesn't have anyone with physical disabilities and Mel, the main character, is a nurse practitioner used to a fancy way of living and she has moved to super small town to get away from the grief from the loss of her husband. So there are feels. And life is turned upside down. And drama.
My biggest issue with this one was that it was a little too obvious. Nothing was surprising. And some of the things that happened made me roll my eyes because it was just too "perfect". There was a thing I felt I related to Mel about, I'm not saying what because spoilers, but that was taken away because "miracle" and some other shit. Whatever. I'm not bitter or anything. *breaks into sobs* Nah, I was just disappointed because I expected something better from it.
All and all though, I liked it. It was what I expected, it served its purpose, and it pleased me.
