Synopsis:
In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection—pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises, not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth―at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.
One girl’s story of life-changing love, unspeakable cruelty, and her precarious grasp of hope.
Review
It's been a few years since I've read these, so I was looking forward to getting back into this world and seeing if my feelings on anything changed.
In some ways they have. I found myself more frustrated, because I knew what was coming and I couldn't stop it. At the same time, I was also annoyed because I really wished some of the parts I had remembered weren't really in the story because ... gawd damn, Emma really needed a hug.
Mostly, I still really loved this series. At the same time, there are characters and parts I used to hate or love, and now I feel the opposite.
As for Kate Rudd, the narrator. I KNEW I recognized her voice! She did TFioS! She did a great job.
