Synopsis Bombs have rocked Sage Hannigan's world. All manner of preternaturals have exposed themselves to the human population and taken over, causing innumerable deaths and mass destruction worldwide. Now Sage is furious. She's angry that lives were lost, that the Time Warper she was trying to save died, that people all over the world are going hungry, and most of all, she is enraged that the lives of everyone she loves are in danger because of her. When her eyes are finally opened to the truth of who is behind all the chaos, she finds herself in a race against time to stop her most powerful adversary yet before it's too late. Too late for her, her friends, and too late for the world." Links ReviewArrrgghhhh. Why does this series continue to TORTURE me. I started reading Unbound on my break at work on Monday (because Maribel kept talking about it), and kept sneaking in pages afterwards. And then managed to get myself a migraine later on in the night, so I couldn't devour it as quickly as I wanted to, but I finished. That's where the arrrghhh comes in.
Actually, the whole thing is just argh. Sage is a stupid buttface. Mature, I know. But jeebus, I wanted to shake her and smack her. And I can't even really explain why because it would be super spoilery. But it was yet another great read in the series. I only had a small issue with two similar words being used in a sentence. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but it was a little distracting. For example, right in the first part of Sage's Journal: "Two weeks and I feel absolutely hopeless helpless." There are a few other instances like this. Not enough to ruin the read, but just looks like one of the words was meant to be removed. 5/5 Platypires again! Synopsis
Three months after Sage Hannigan time warps a hundred years into the past and saves the future, she is still trying to come to grips with all the she has gained… and all that she has lost.
All of her searching hasn't turned up the Cerberus Society or any creatures of the night, and she's beginning to wonder if she's gone crazy after all. The only things keeping her grounded are her sparring sessions with Matt and her weekly ritual of scouring the city for lowlifes to kick the crap out of, and even that can't keep her dreams free of the heartache and bittersweet memories she has come to loathe and… to cherish. When blasts from the past—good, bad, and evil—come knocking on her door, will she be able to do what she has to even if it means having her barely healing heart ripped to shreds? Links
Review
So it popped up in my feed the other day that Undone, the second book in the Time Warper series, was released. I one clicked without hesitation.
If I thought the first one was awesome, I don't know how to describe this one. I started it after I'd finished the Twilight gender swap story and only intended to read for about an hour or so, because it was late and I love my sleep. Apparently, I don't love my sleep as much as reading this book. Four hours, some tears, and a bunch of cursing at Sage and Aldwin, and it was over. The ending of course sets up the troubles for the next book (which I've already preordered), and I'm excited for it as well. Soren, oh mah gawd Soren. I adore him. I wish he was real. I'm really glad he had a much bigger role in this book compared to the first one. He and Sage have a great dynamic. 5/5 Platypires from me! And can't freaking wait until Monday so I can read the next one.
SynopsisThis new edition pairs the classic love story with Stephenie Meyer's bold and surprising reimagining of the complete novel with the characters' genders reversed. InLife and Death, readers will be thrilled to experience this iconic tale told through the eyes of a human teenage boy in love with a female vampire. This edition features nearly 400 pages of new content as well as exquisite new cover art. Fans of Bella and Edward will not want to miss the opportunity to see these iconic characters portrayed in intriguing new roles. LinksReviewI think I would have given this 5/5 for the ending alone. I bought this as soon as I could when I realized what it was. Something familiar, but also new. I was definitely intrigued for the swap, as a Twilight fan. Obviously those who didn't enjoy the original story probably would enjoy this. It's pretty much the same story with some situations tweeked to fit the swap. I've heard a lot of negativity surrounding this book, but I really enjoyed it for what it was.
I was not expecting the ending at all and it broke me. Honestly. That epilogue just hits you right in the damn feels. I understand the reason for the alternate ending, and I do almost wish this had happened in the original. The reason this is only 4/5 platypires for me was because of some of the new names. I loved Beau and Edythe and Eleanor. But the other Cullens/Hales annoyed me. Maybe it was because I was holding onto the original too mcuch, but someof them just didn't feel right. I'm glad I got the book and it'll forever be on my bookshelf. Synopsis Eighteen-year-old Sage Hannigan wants to get back to her own time, preferably one that hasn't been destroyed by an underworld plot brewing in Edwardian-era South Carolina. How hard can it be? All she has to do is: 1. Learn to use newly acquired warping skills to bend time to her will. 2. Take out a few rogue vampires. 3. Join an ancient secret society. 4. Figure out who is putting the time stream in jeopardy. 5. Find and maim whoever invented the corset. Sage never asked to be chosen by the Druid Priestess, Amerach, to become a Warper, and she never asked to have the future hanging on her shoulders or to warp a hundred years into the past. She certainly never asked to meet Dr. Aldwin Blake, who would make her question her desire to get back to her own time. But if she fails her mission, people will die, history will change, and the present she wishes to return to will be no more. Links Review I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
WOW. The synopsis had me drawn in, but the actual book was more than what I expected from the little glimpse of a synopsis. It was a little slow to start for me personally, but by chapter three I was hooked. Other than that, I really have nothing to complain about, unless you count all the time I wanted to smack a character or situation. Like, why couldn't have just gone the other way, for once?! And why, WHY, did it have to end in a way that pretty much stomped on my heart?? Fantastic read for those who enjoy time travel, romance and supernatural beings. Can't wait for the next installment! 5/5 Platypires |
