Synopsis
Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh.
Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up. Melanie doesn't know why this makes Miss Justineau look sad.
My Review
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
3 Platypires for The Girl with All the Gifts
I am up and down about how I feel about this book. I feel this book was really overhyped and I got suckered in. As a zombie loving fan, I can safely say that I have read better. I think my big complaint was the science behind the book. I felt the story had too many holes that I couldn't overlook.
Spoiler alert, the big revelation about where the zombie kids came from and how nobody else noticed till way later.
I also felt the story dragged on and wasn't really that scary. I didn't really feel concern for the characters.
Overall, I thought this was an okay book.
