WARNING: May Contain Werewolves.
A pyramid predating all known cultures appears without warning. Its discovery throws into question everything we know about the origins of mankind. Inside lies incredible technology, proof of a culture far more advanced than our own. Something dark lurks within, eager to resume a war as old as mankind. When it is unleashed it heralds the end of our species’ reign. A plague of werewolves spreads across the world. A sunspot larger than anything in recorded history begins to grow. Yet both pale in comparison to the true threat, the evil the werewolves were created to fight. Freakin' A, what a way to start off a new year of reading! I honestly don't remember if this audible was for review, or if I bought it myself. Either way, I am super stoked that I had it! Talk about a thrill ride.
The pace is, for the most part, intense and supercharged, and totally exciting. Sure, there a few spots that are slow, but sometimes, things just need to be explained lol. I absolutely love this new take on werewolves, and am fascinated by the mythos being spun behind it. The pyramids, Egyptians and beyond - it's all incredibly fun! I thought it was very well written, and I love the characters. Which brings me to my next point: I have a new book boyfriend that puts my previous BBFs to shame. A man who loves the stars, is smart (hello, Mr. Scientist!), AND knows his way around guns? Well hi there, I think I'm love with a fictional character haha! The narration was spot on. I liked the change of voices (especially for those characters we can "see"), his pace and tension were pretty perfect, and it felt like he knew and was connected to the story. Very well done. Anyone who likes werewolves or paranormal monster stories would most likely dig this. I am buying the second audible book asap. Bob says: 5 Platypires to my first read/listen of 2018 |
