I listened to the Audible version of this book, and wow!! I wasn't too sure about the narrator at first, but she quickly grew on me, and I loved it!
Cady (I think I spelled that right...) is a study of contradictions. She muses about how to kill the whole world, while at the same time not wishing death on anyone. To me, this makes her feel more real, more human and flawed, which endeared her to me. Jackson, on the other hand.... well, someone tell him I know how to make tamales and somewhat how to survive, so maybe he'll spare me! I really enjoyed this book. It's not action filled, as it's the introduction and is actually starting from before the beginning, and I really love that about it. The plot unfolds nicely, while somewhat predictable in certain aspects, but that didn't make it boring or anything of the sort for me. The ending came a bit more abruptly than I was anticipating, but that's okay! If you enjoy sci-fi and apocalyptic tales, I recommend this! I know I'll be continuing on with the series!
