Synopsis
Nora Johnson-White has been labeled a great many things all of her life, but she has never been able to claim herself as her own. She has floundered as a young woman, desperate to find love with all of the wrong guys. One amazing summer, three unrequited words, and nine months later, her life is irrevocably changed.
Nora is a lost soul clinging to a dream that even her own mind cannot fully understand. How could a woman love one man, say vows before God to another, and maintain her sanity? She might be an outcast. She might deserve the censure. She might destroy precious lives and she just might be a rebel in the making.
Randy White is a good man, husband, and stepfather. For five years he set his sights on the most beautiful creature he has ever seen and with persistence, Randy finally got Nora to marry him. What more could he ask for?

The third book in the Black Hills series, Black Hills Rebel returns the reader to Hot Springs, South Dakota. Familiar characters from the first two books make an appearance as well. The first in the series was about Matt and Andy, the second Rayne and Garrett, and this third is about Matt and Garrett's sister Nora and her husband Randy. As always, Travis, the father of Matt, Garrett and Nora, serves as the guiding voice of wisdom. Throughout the series, Nora was a character I grew to like quite a bit, and this novel served to expand on her character since she and Randy are given the spotlight.
What I've loved about the whole series is that the people have felt like people that could exist in reality, with all their joys and trials that they have to face. Black Hills Rebel is no exception to that, and I found myself involved with the story from the beginning. I could relate to the emotions expressed by both Nora and Randy as well as the doubt and fear as they face trials in their relationship when neither was sure of what the future held and the uncertainty that both felt and expressed over the course of the novel. Because of that, I could feel empathy for both Randy and Nora, but especially Randy.
Even though they're supporting characters in this particular novel, I loved the roles that Rayne and Garrett played in this novel. They brought a smile to my face a few times throughout the book.
Overall, I recommend this book to readers who enjoy romances with a western setting and contemporary romance. My rating is 5/5 platypires.

“You were so beautiful, even with tears falling down your face. I thought you had to be the bravest, strongest girl I knew. It might have been too soon to tell you that I loved you then, Nora, but I certainly felt it.” Randy couldn’t believe he was telling her all of this, but now was the time to lay all the cards on the table. He had something very valuable to lose if she didn’t hear everything. He just couldn’t take that chance.
“I was an absolute mess Randy, and in many ways, I still am. I hurt people by keeping secrets. I am afraid I won’t be enough when the secrets are out.” Her voice broke and he could feel her body trembling.
