A witness, like no other, was left behind and this witness knows the victim better than anyone.
Rosie's stalker, Ashley Truelove knows everything about her, from what she wears to who she sees. The question isn't can Ashley help Bruno catch the killer, but will he? With meager and confusing clues, two known victims and time running out, Bruno realizes that the cost of bringing the murderer to justice will be paid in blood. With the police Sergeant on his back to catch this killer and provide justice for the death of his daughter, Bruno is racing against time. Kiss of Death only hunts occasionally and time is running out before he vanishes again. Can Bruno find the evidence to stop him or will he escape his clutches once again?
Excerpt
The night was quiet now with all her roommates working or studying late into the night. That's why we chose tonight to save this helpless, sinful child. No distractions or witnesses. Tonight, it was just the three of us alone so that we could save her. Nobody to interfere with what must be done. As she slipped on her white housecoat grabbing a towel and soap, she was humming a classical tune that we had heard before. It was her nightly routine. She thought that her nightly routine of soaking in the tub was cleanliness, but we knew all her little secrets and not everything she did in there was wholesome. We slipped into one of the other rooms and waited. At times like this you must wait for the best time and setting. Timing can be everything and we had this night planned down to the second.
We heard the water tumbling into the tub and we waited even though the excitement was overwhelming. We had planned this night over and over until every detail was perfect and it should be executed just as perfectly. Even the day was special. It was our anniversary. Ironic how on our rose anniversary we are saving Rosie, but she wouldn’t understand the meaning. The bloodhound would though. He would remember the meaning. Rosie was humming that same song endlessly. If only she knew that the next song she sang was going to be amongst Angels. Through the little crack in the door we could see her naked body as she slowly undressed. She was vain about her body and enjoyed the idea of being watched by those around her. It was a flaw in her character. One of many flaws that existed and those who took the time to truly see her, took advantage of it.
We stepped closer towards the door. A low squeak rang out with each step we took. From the little crack in the door we could see her smile and slip under the white foaming suds. Her eyes sparkled as she tried to determine who was watching her. After a moment, she lifted her body up just a little higher allowing her nipples to poke through and an even bigger grin filled her face. Such a naughty child she was and now we would punish her.
Opening the door her smile dropped as she whispered, "What are you doing here?" She dropped beneath the water whispering, "You can't see me like this!"
"Don't worry Rosie. Remember I said I would save and protect you always."
Her lips quivered as she whined, "Yes."
Pulling the knife from our pocket, we whispered, "Tonight's the night we save your soul and release you from your body."
