Review:
I was tentative about starting Take Care, Sara. I had seen snippets on Facebook and heard positive, but emotional, reviews from friends. Lately though, I've been going through some tough things in my life and had started to read passionately day and night. Take Care, Sara has been on my kindle for a while. I got it to support an indie writer that a friend had introduced me to, who claimed that her writing is amazing.
Instead of buying a new book, I decided that I'd start a this one. Starting off, after realizing Sara's loss, my heart was broken. I felt helpless, even though she was a fictious character. The way she suffered broke my heart and it made me think about that one person I couldn't stand to lose. I spent the better of two hours at two in the morning texting my boyfriend, making sure he wasn't going anywhere, and honestly it helped strengthen our relationship. I didn't know a book could do that, and I was astounded that Lindy's writing could have such passion behind her words, making the story feel real.
We start out as seeing Sara as weak, not wanting to live, but as we progress through the book we realize that's not her at all. She's not weak, but a lot of horrible things have happened to her. We feel for her, and when you feel for a character that says a lot of the writer, who is able to elicit the emotions from us. We can relate to Sara and Lincoln and personally, when Lincoln would come to her forcing her to live, the way he talked and acted made me smile and think about my own boyfriend. I recently lost a grandmother and a close family friend, and through it all my boyfriend has made sure I get outside, have fun, enjoy life, and live instead of just mourn.
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions. As you read through it, they get stronger and stronger until you get to the end and are in tears and smiling all at the same time. We're moved by a book, by characters that we can relate to, and by situations we hope to never go through, but might have a new outlook on if they do happen.
I'd strongly recommend this book to anyone, especially someone who's going through a rough time in their life and their faith is dwindling, or who are just sad and need a cheering up. This book is a strong five stars, and I'm proud to say that I will reread, and reread, and share, and show everyone what an eye opener and moving book this is. Thank you, Lindy!
