I will recommend this story to others who love Dystopian and fantasy stories. I give it 4.5 Platypires out of 5 Platypires.
Sovereignty: Blood Lust by Marc Cage and Jayden Melborn is a fantastic prelude to their upcoming story. I was given a copy of this short story in exchange for a honest review. The authors definitely keep you in suspense as they build up to the action and drama in the story. Who can you trust when everything is falling apart? Can you really trust your family? I really enjoyed the dialogue between the two siblings in the first chapter. You get the sense that they are close They definitely make me want to get the next book to see what happens next.
I will recommend this story to others who love Dystopian and fantasy stories. I give it 4.5 Platypires out of 5 Platypires.

Back of Beyond by Neeny Boucher is a sweet but drama filled love story that takes place between Dina Martin and Nicholas Riley. They are complete opposites and frenemies but you can tell that there is a spark of attraction. She is forbidden to him because of his perceived self-worth and she is the sister of his best friend. Ms. Boucher captured what it was like to be made fun of in high school and how the cliques stood together.
I really liked how Dina’s family was supportive but I loved her friendship with Bonnie and Mandy. Those three were a force to be reckoned with. This is what stories need. We need more strong female friendships that are there for one another through thick and thin. I also really loved how each chapter was named after a song from the ‘90s. This made me relive some memories through the soundtrack. The author has the ability to write characters that make you fall in love with them. Well with the exception of the Stephany and Bethany, I did not like them at all. But I’m guessing there is a reason for why they act the way they do. I will recommend this story to everyone. I give it 5/5 Platypires. I’m looking forward to reading the next two books. Speak Heart!: Make Them Hear by Charly Wilde is a beautifully written book of poems. Each poem will tug at your heartstrings or your emotions. The author Charly Wilde has amazing talent that shines through with her words.
Each poem is beautiful. Whether they are sad, happy, or thought provoking, they each invoke an emotion. They are empowering. Each poem flows beautifully and easily. I really enjoy the author’s style. I look forward to reading their future works. I will recommend this book to others. I give it 5/5 Platypires. Juniper by Felicia Leibenguth is a phenomenal read. This story brings the drama and action. I was drawn in from the first page. This is my first time reading a story by Felicia Leibenguth, and it will not be my last. I felt like I was right by Juniper’s side as she battled her way through the action.
There were times where I almost threw my kindle because the action was so good. The suspense made it hard to walk away from the story. Each character was relatable and the dialogue was realistic. The author did a wonderful job of bringing everything to life. You could almost imagine yourself in the fictional world. I loved this story. Ms. Leibenguth, you have a fan for life in me. I will recommend this story to others. I give it 5/5 Platypires. Take Me As I Am by Erin Lee is a book that everyone should read. This story centers around Emma who is in an abusive relationship with Riley. Everyone else around Emma sees that she is in an abusive relationship but she doesn’t see it.
Erin Lee has delivered a brutally honest story about the domestic violence. She shows that it’s not just physical violence but emotional abuse as well. This is what so many people do not get about domestic violence. This book should be in the hands of everyone who has someone that they care about. This way they can see the red flags and help. Or at least help provide guidance and reassurance to the victim. To be honest this book hit way too close to home for me. I will recommend this book to everyone. I give it 5/5 Platypires. Losing Faith by Erin Lee is one of the most heartbreaking stories I have ever read so far this year. This story takes you through the brutal scenes of what happens when a child goes through foster care. I will admit Aster’s story of what she goes through as a social worker broke my heart. I never thought about what the workers go through.
You will run the full range of emotions as you read each word. To be honest, this story really makes you want to scream until the system is fixed. The book is extremely well-written and makes you think about things. Erin Lee takes you through each step from beginning to end in a case. I will recommend this story to others. I give it 5/5 Platypires. Daddy’s Monster by Erin Lee is a brutal read. This short story is a brutally honest scene of horrific child abuse and domestic violence. I cried for about two hours after reading it. Erin Lee does not sugar coat it, nor does she romanticize abuse. Thank you so much for that.
Erin Lee’s stories have a gritty realness to them. Which makes me appreciate her works even more. I have become a fan of hers. I will recommend this short story to everyone who can stomach it. Not everyone will be able to handle it. I give it 5/5 Platypires. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard is one of the best YA stories that I have read so far in this new year. I admit I binge watched the TV show first before reading the books. Neither one was a disappointment. What I am almost ashamed to admit is that I finished this book in one day.
Each of the main characters got equal time in the story. The dialogue was believable. The only thing I had an issue with that almost took me out of the story was all the high end fashion labels that was name dropped throughout the whole book. Yes, we get it the Liars love their high end stuff. If you like YA stories packed with mystery, action, and drama then this is the book for you. I would recommend it to those who like this genre. I give it 4.5 Platypires. London Lovers: Volume One by Amy Daws is life. I have read each and every single book by Daws and I’m completely enamored with her writing style. She can make you laugh like crazy in one scene and in the next she can viciously rip out your heart. This is a sign of a true creative genius.
This box set is what you need in your life. Trust me. Amy Daws will make you laugh, cry, and then laugh some more. I give this 5/5 Platypires Priceless (Once Wicked Series Book 1) by Sarah J. Pepper is the author who takes fairytales and gives them that extra oomph that they need. I am enamored with Ms. Pepper’s writing style. She has a way of breathing new life into old fairytales.
The chemistry between Declan and Piper was amazing. They sizzle together, and that is what I love about this story. Ms. Pepper has made a believer in me and I want to read her take on the fairy tales. She has a way of giving her characters a special twist. The action was on point. Well-written, and the dialogue was amazing. I give it 5/5 Platypires. I will definitely recommend this book to others. |
