A little red headed girl uses her imagination, pretending to be a Flamingo, telling a story about her wonderful African animal friends, a Monkey, a Zebra, a Giraffe and an Elephant.
The Flamingo calls her friends and invites them to a picnic under the acacia tree near the west bank of the lake. But, when an uninvited guest appears unexpected fun and hilarity follow.
This book uses beautiful photographs taken in Kenya and the United States to illustrate the story.

This book was cute and had a fun way of teaching a few fun facts about it. The animals bringing their foods was really neat, but the kids were a little upset at the end; they didn’t like that poor Annie ended up running away sad, and thought it was kind of mean of the other animals. Overall, though, they enjoyed it and laughed at some of the antics involved. I liked being able to help the kids look up the location the photos were taken since the author included that info at the end, it really enriched the book as a whole and was a fun learning experience.
Bob and the Pugglepires gave it somewhere between 3.5 and 4 Stars
