There were also a lot of unanswered questions:
Why did Jacob survive longer than anyone else who after being bitten?
Where are the little girls parents?
Who was going to benefit from this genocide?
Plus there were also moments where it just didn't make sense. Another reporter was introduced in the story and she was found just standing surrounded by zombies and she is wearing heels. The group had to rescue her.
My issue is where did she come from?
How did she survive wearing heels so long during the zombie apocalypse?
Why was she surprised to be told what was going on? That's when I realized time was never really mention. Did this all take place in hours or did it take place in weeks? I was under the impression that days or a least a week took place before they headed to the train station.
If you decide not to heed the warning and read "I Zombie I" please be aware that there are a lot of pop culture reference. Which personally I found annoying because all the popular zombie movies were mention yet it took Jacob a while to call the "Mourners" zombies and it took him a while to believe what was happening. True zombie fans would not be this slow on the uptake. Also the cover has nothing to do with the book. At no point did Jacob wear a gas mask or carried around rope.
If you would like to read a journal type zombie story I would recommend Day by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne.
