Son of a bitch...

Can I start a review that way?  Because I totally just did.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review from the author.  It was also highly recommended by a blog I follow/stalk, Contagious Reads.

Anyway, I haven't really found a zombie book I've enjoyed in a while.  They're all the same, pretty much.  So I put off reading this one for a while.

Big mistake.

This book was awesome!

A few times a felt a bit put off because of something in the story, but it wasn't a big deal because I can't remember details on those issues.  Also, the story quickly picked up every time I found something that bothered me, so it never lasted more than half a page at a time.

Highly recommend this to lovers of zombie books, and anyone who has grown tired of the genre.  Because it is freaking great!

I cannot wait to start the next book.  Because, holy shit... that ending!

Really liked it.  Except Justin's section. I though it was silly how Auggie, Summer. Jack, Via, Miranda, and Julian's chapters are all grammatically correct... and then Justin's has no capitalization or quotation marks.

Other than that, great story.  Highly recommended.

Character wise, this one was better than book 1.  It didn't feel so cluttered because most of the characters had been established already, so I didn't feel confused while I was reading it.  Although the recurring character's development from the first book was unrealistic, and the new ones felt like they were just added for token minority.  I was offended a few times at the author's portrayal of some of the characters.

The dialogue was worse in this book.  I cringed many times.  I would not have finished this one if it wasn't gifted to me and I didn't feel obligated.  Again, I had no issue with the grammar and didn't catch any typos.

After a chapter into the story, I had to go back and reread it because I had no idea what I had just read.  I thought it was because I was tired, but it turned out to be the way it was written.  There are a lot of characters and they're a bit confusing to keep up with because of how quickly the focus shifts between them.

This book has an interesting concept, but the dialogue was unrealistic and the characters were not believable.  Even though there were many times I had to put the book down because of how silly it was, I was interested in what was going to happen next.

I will say this though; the editing is fine.  I didn't catch any typos or misuse of grammar.

I really enjoyed this entire series and I'm having a hard time putting my thoughts into words.

There was SO MUCH DRAMA, and I loved it! I'd feel guilty for saying that, but I'm totally not ashamed. Every time Rowan started to put her head above water, a wave would crash over it.

Which is exactly what kept me glued to the story. I love drama!

The characters are great, and even though there's a good deal of them nobody felt like a filler to add pages.

Although Rowan's sister still pisses me off.

As someone who has dealt with some similar issues as her, it was a relief to see someone struggling. It makes it more real, because a lot of people write it off as just a thing someone experienced. (I wish I could word that better)

Anyway, I highly recommend this series.

It's been about 100 books since I listened to the first book on Audible, and I wasn't sure if I would be able to pick it up easily. I usually don't like waiting so long between books in a series because I forget too much.

That was definitely not the case here. It was easy to get back into the story and I felt like I had just finished book one, it was all so fresh in my mind. I was quite impressed with how well the author transitioned between the two.

Oh my gawd, the drama. I loved it! I could hardly put it down. I wanted so badly to just get inside the book and punch certain people in the face. I was actually shaking with anger at one point. That's how cool I am.

I'm glad I agreed to continue this series. It was worth the read, and I absolutely cannot wait to begin the next book.
