Another lovely won from one of Lindy's giveaways.
Do you know how exasperated I was with this book? Lindy can write everything and anything. The first time I read this book, I hated Taryn. HATED. As in past tense. I can't put my finger on exactly what it was that irked me about her . . . oh wait. Yes I can.
She was hurting my favorite character! You can see where my loyalties lie. Normally I love the protagonist, and with this reread, I (grudgingly) grew to like Taryn. Very grudgingly. Like I was forced.
I have to admit I originally hated Luke the first time around as well. But he also grew on me, and I guess I have to admit it that his pairing in the book makes sense. Now.
Anyway, Lindy transports the reader, makes you live what Taryn is living. We see how she is pulled from her boring world and dropped into one that has everyone looking to her for guidance. It's a tough job and Taryn knows it, and quite sanely doesn't want the role that is thrust onto her shoulders.
I loved this book (because Lindy makes me love everything she writes, whether I want to love it or not) and there was a lot of that quirky humor that I like reading about in this book. Taryn's thoughts are pretty hilarious at times, and that is what made me (grudgingly) like her.
Charmed is a good read that could use a little bit of polishing, but a good read nonetheless.
