I’ve gone back and forth on what to rate this book over the last couple of days. On the one hand, the book is incredibly well done, the narrative flows together to create a vivid “movie of the mind” that, once started, you won’t be able to put down until its conclusion. On the other hand, the underlying concept behind the main romantic couple is … deeply disturbing. I might need therapy to recover.
Ultimately, I decided that the fact that I was sucked in enough to BE disturbed by them is just another feather in this book’s cap. The story had excellent pacing, and it was easy to picture each character, how they felt and thought. It has something for everyone, with just the right amount of romance, suspense, horror, and mystery. It is truly a unique read with lore and preternatural creatures unlike any I’ve ever seen.
The editing was well done, and aside from a few sporadic typos, I do not have much to report there. I rate His Cemetery Doll by Brantwijn Serrah 5 Platypires!
