Synopsis:
Nava Katz has a lot on her plate:
Brotherhood: unmask.
Demons: slaughter.
Guy problems: terminate with extreme prejudice.
Nava is hot on the heels of a demonic serial killer and finally working with her brother. The assignment should be a dream come true, not a nightmarish power struggle made worse by her twin's refusal to believe there's corruption within the Brotherhood.
She's determined to find proof of their dirty dealings, even as she risks irrefutably breaking her sibling bond.
And speaking of clocking annoying males upside the head...
Nava is also totally over smoking hot rock star and fellow hunter Rohan Mitra. There is a veritable buffet of boy options out there, and this girl is now all-you-can-eat.
So when her demon hunt brings her first love, Cole, back into her life, her revenge fantasies for closure-on all fronts-are a go.
Except neither her old wounds nor her new ones are as healed as she believes. It’s Less Hopelessly Devoted, more Worse Things I Could Do.
“I was living in a CW teen soap as the sassy best friend without any foreseeable love interest in my story line. It was time to get these two together already so I could star in my own spin-off.”
Review
The worst part about this specific book in the series is that I accidentally missed my first hold I had on it at the library, and then I was stuck waiting for it for almost another month! Don't worry guys, I made it through that horrible time. But only just barely.
Frustrating. That is the one word I would use to explain this book. It is because everyone just needed to listen to Nava, at least when it came to the supernatural stuff. It would have saved so much drama! I get those feels so much... minus the demons trying to kill me and whatnot, mind you. In conclusion, people should just listen to me more often. That’s what I’m taking away from this book.
Back to the book! When it comes to her relationship stuff - family, friends, and romantical - I wanna smack Nava upside her head. I understand why she has issues with things, but my gawd! Use the crap in your life to show everyone how super epic awesome you are! Okay, I took things a bit personal again. I get that she is kinda doing that, but she should work on it a bit harder. Also Nava REALLY needs to listen to me when I yell at her. That would also make things so much easier for everyone. It should be noted that her character development in this one is actually quite spiffy.
Before I forget! One very important note I need to say about this particular book in the series. Ari was pissing me the fluff off. Seriously. I definitely wanted to smack him harder AND more often than I did his twin. He is insolent. 100%!
I'm SO looking forward to the next book in the series. I have absolutely fallen in love with this universe and I’m glad there’s more to read in it.
