Synopsis:
Martin Banks is just a normal guy who has made an abnormal discovery: he can manipulate reality, thanks to reality being nothing more than a computer program. With every use of this ability, though, Martin finds his little “tweaks” have not escaped notice. Rather than face prosecution, he decides instead to travel back in time to the Middle Ages and pose as a wizard.
What could possibly go wrong?
An American hacker in King Arthur’s court, Martin must now train to become a full-fledged master of his powers, discover the truth behind the ancient wizard Merlin…and not, y’know, die or anything.
Review
Anyway, this is one of the most fantastic books I have ever read. Also, the narrator... Holy plop balls! Luke Daniels was amazing! I have already been heckling/harassing/highly recommending (how ever you want to say it) it to several of my friends.
One thing I need to point out is, I recently watched Kung Fury - so the thought of hacking time is gloriously amazing. Throw in a gaggle of computer nerds that are also hacking a program they found to become "wizards" and I'm hooked. I'm already a fan of time traveling back to the time of King Arthur, so all this extra was a whole lot of awesome piled on top of what was already awesome. Basically, it would have been very hard for this book to not be enjoyable for me.
What I didn't expect was pretty much everything I read in this book. It was nothing like what I expected, and I could not even begin to guess at what was going to happen next. This was one of the more unique books I've read, and that's a major plus for me.
My favorite part of this book was every time I snorted with laughter, which happened quite often. (Usually something related to Phillip) It was brilliant, fantastic, glorious, and every other similar sort of word you can think of to fit right here to explain how much I loevd this book.
I've never finished a book and immediately wanted to go back to the beginning and reread/listen to the whole thing over again. I'm hoping to convince my husband to give in to my whims so I have an excuse. I did notice book 2 is on Kindle Unlimited, so I'll be downloaded that and listening to it soon.
Truly an original. I absolutely loved it. Highly recommended. One of the best books I've ever read. (I can go on if you need me to...)
