Avery is different. Somehow, her magic has always simmered beneath the surface. Never completely broken, she must pretend in order to survive. When Zander, her master’s nephew, brings her magic out in full force, she finds out what it’s like to truly be alive.
Ripped from Zander’s side and sent to The Farm, Avery doesn’t know if she’ll be able to hide her light and make it out alive. But there, she’ll meet someone who knows her true purpose.
The war isn’t over, and if Avery can survive, she could be the one to set her people free. All it takes is a little hope and a Spark of Light.

Review
The beginning started out a bit confusing for me, but picked up pretty quickly.
Warning: This book has A LOT of drama. There were a few times I had to put it down so I could catch my breath. Especially in the beginning, when I was still figuring everything out. There were also times the story was too rushed, especially in certain dramatic scenes.
While drama is something I'm quite fond of, I'm definitely an emotional reader, there were times where it was just too much. One example being that something happened one way, and then happened right afterwards another way. It milked the hell out of that situation, and I just wanted to smack the characters involved.
Trigger warning: I will admit that I skipped a scene. I was warned about it, knew what occurred in it, but it wasn't a situation that I felt comfortable reading at the time.
Avery was an impressive lead, and Zander compliments her well. I really enjoyed this story and I cannot wait for the sequel.
