Well as I mention, I don't read much science fiction. I think I was overwhelmed on where to start plus I didn't want to get lost in the space jargon. This all change last month where I saw some books that caught my interest. I started with "Jacob Smith is Incredibly Average" by Erin Hayes.

Jacob Smith is Incredibly Average by Erin Hayes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars I saw this book shared from an author I follow on Facebook. The cover looked like an old computer game I played when I was younger. Therefore, I was intrigued to read the synopsis. Finding out its about an alien race wanting to take over earth had me wanting to read it. I was presently surprised on how much I liked this book. Even though it's aim at the middle school crowd as an adult I thought it was very entertaining. The writing is well written and I could picture this book becoming a movie. Overall, a very fun read. I would recommend this book for fans of the Percy Jackson, and the Pendragon series. View all my reviews |

Exigency by Michael Siemsen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really enjoyed Exigency and was pleasantly surprised with how much so. I am not much of a reader of space travel type of books because usually I get lost in the science jargon. Yet, I really enjoy space travel movies and books. I guess we all have our quirks. Anyways, I didn't feel lost in this book and thought it was well written. I got lost in the characters, and the story. The book was defiantly a page turner because it was filled with a lot of adventure and suspense. My only complaint is that I felt it was a tad long and the ending left a lot to be desired. I really hope there is a sequel because I felt it left a lot of unanswered questions. I need closure!!! lol! I would recommend this book to people looking for something new and interesting to read. Updated review 1/7/15: After the review I was given a new ending of the book and I enjoyed it. I still stand by that I need a sequel. I also wrote this review before my diversity rating but I would like to share that this book gets an A for diversity. View all my reviews |

The Martian by Andy Weir
My rating: 4 of 5 stars I don't know whether to give this book 4 or 5 stars. It was pretty damn good. My only complaint is that I got kinda lost in all of the space jargon. Seriously, I felt kinda dumb because everything sounded so smart that I'm just gonna assume it's correct. Anyways, the story is filled with intense scenes with a touch of sarcastic humor. I couldn't help but root for Mark and lost some sleep because I just had to know how it was gonna end. Plus now I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie. I have a feeling it's gonna be awesome. On the diversity scale. I give this book a B+ View all my reviews |
