Oh man! It pains me to have to write this but Unleashed was not what I was expecting as a follow up to Uninvited. Even though it has been some time since I read Uninvited, I remember having the "I can't put this book down" feeling. Unleashed was just not the same.
Frankly, I am not disappointed that Sean played a lesser role in this follow-up. I just felt there wasn't a lot going on. I wanted to know about the genes and what was going in the world. How our heroes will overcome it and save the day. Instead, it was more interpersonal drama between two teenagers and finding themselves. I dunno. I guess there wasn't much of a plot. I felt I had more questions than answers.
There was some action and overall I was entertained. I did like the new character Caden and thought it was different from most YA series. Overall this was a good read.

I was immediately intrigued by the cover and thought it looked amazing. Then the synopsis hooked me. I have a love of all things alien and I just had to read this one. Luckily my library had a copy.
The story was pretty good and it really captivate me. I did have a few issues with Cara and found her to be annoying at times. She was pretty black and white when some of the issues were pretty grey.
Another issue I had with this book was how fast the American public turned against the aliens and it came off pretty exaggerated. Also some of the science felt a little off and I think i feel that way because one of my hobbies is the study of evolution. I did separate myself from those issues and thought the story was really good. I had moments where I couldn't put the story down and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Overall this was a fun read and would recommend for others to read.

I feel very mixed about this book. I truly related with Autumn and her learning disability. It reminded me of a very close family member and her struggle to read. I think cause of that it I immediately grew a liking towards Autumn. I just couldn't help but root for her.
Now as for Adonis, I just didn't like him. I did feel bad that he was born without legs and had to be in a wheelchair. I just did not like his cockiness and his treatment towards Autumn. I did not see why Autumn liked him at all. He was just mean to her. Not a good romantic lead at all.
The book is told for dual POVs and I think it would have been better if it was just told through Autumn's voice.
Overall, I liked the book but it's hard to really like a story if you don't like one of the leads.

Oh Marissa Meyer, how do you do it? How do you create the wonderful stories using familiar characters but making them your own? A round of applause for that.

The Fairest is Levana story told from her POV and lets just say she's missing a few screws. She is truly unable to grasp other people's emotions. At times I thought she must have Asperger. I honestly can wait to discuss that idea with my book club. (yes my book club is reading the Lunar Chronicles cause we are awesome!)
As for the story, I really enjoyed it and thought it was well written. The Evil Queen is truly one of a kind. I liked how even it all played out, even if it was truly horrific.

I would highly recommend this series to everybody.

I swear I think Cassie Mae can read my mind or she maybe can time travel. Cause I feel like she knows what I went though my teen years. Seriously, she writes characters that are so relatable and realistic that you'll feel like someone is holding mirror to your very own life.
You can't Catch me is story about a girl who develops but mother nature decided to give her a lil more extra on top. Add a love story, teen angst, funny moments and you get a great read.
I also thought this was a very inspiring read about body image and highly recommend it for others to read.

The was such a fun read. I laughed and found it very relatable. From the start I thought the author did a great job with his introduction warning about this book. Basically warning any reader that this book is not a zombie book but a book about friends making a movie about zombies. LOVED IT!
Basically this book is about a group of friends with no money, no time and really no script trying to make a book. Throw in those awkward high school moment and lots of humor which makes for a very fun book. I did feel the ending was rushed but it was still pretty good.
Overall, I really liked this book and would recommend for others to read.

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

I was so looking forward to reading this book ever since I heard about the author from the #WeNeedDiverseBooks campaign. Her family picture was one of the ones that went viral. I quickly delved into the novel and was freaking loving it. Highlighting so many quotes and I thought the love story was amazing.
But before I get ahead of myself I need to bring up the fact that the only other time I heard of SCIDS was from the 2001 movie Bubble Boy. The movie is not the greatest at all and unlike the book its a comedy. I kept the movie in the back of my mind till the last 15% of the book.

Just Damn. Both of them have the same ending. WTF! I could not believe it. SCIDs is known as the bubble boy disease so a simple google search would bring up the movie. I was just so disappointed and it basically ruin the book for me. I couldn't get over it. I was really looking forward to reading how someone can have an extreme illness but still make it work with love. I was even willing to accept that maybe the heroine wouldn't survive. I just wasn't expecting the same ending as Bubble Boy. SMDH.
Also after reading this novel I wanted to know more about SCIDs and was extremely disappointed to learn that its not something a teenager can live with for a long period of time. I guess I will just have to believe that even though Madeline had internet access she never googled her illness. She remain completely ignorant about herself.

Overall, Everything, Everything was a decent read and maybe if I haven't see Bubble Boy the movie I would have liked it more. Seriously, before the last 15%, I was close to giving this book 5 stars. Maybe Nicola Yoon's next book will be better.

Weird Girl and What's His Name by Meagan Brothers

Must love X-Files or have some idea who the hell are Mulder and Scully from the show. Okay maybe I am exaggerating but it does help. Its also one of the reasons why I picked up "Weird Girl and What's His Name" because it was mention in the synopsis. Being a fan of the show I was able to pick up on a lot of the references but even though I liked the show, I thought it was a tad overdone. I got it. Lula and Rory are obsessed with the show and they would use the show as a way to express themselves. Great idea but the delivery at times just sounded like a bunch of ramblings which killed some of the fun. Honestly, it just took away from the story at times.
Now for the story without the OCD ramblings about X-files and the band Guided By Voices was really good. I was really entertain with this coming of age story of Lula & Rory and thought they were really likable characters. I loved the fact they were confused about love and their own identity. Plus dealing with their own family drama isn't an easy task either for any teenager.
I liked the author's writing style and plan on reading more of her work. She has talent with realistic YA fiction that doesn't talk down to teenagers. She makes her characters flawed and relatable which was really refreshing to read.
Overall this was a really good book and I would recommend to readers who enjoy LGBT YA fiction.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I guess I should start off with the fact that Fangirl is one of my favorite books but the Simon & Baz story line wasn't. Its not that I didn't like it, its just that it wasn't my favorite. Now that being said I wasn't going to pass up a new novel by Rainbow Rowell.
Carry on follow Simon Snow aka Harry Potter is on a new adventure. I know its a fan-fiction story and there are lot of differences. Its really hard not to compare but it does help that the characters are really different. Plus even though the world building is similar to HP- Carry On comes across as more realistic. Using too much magic drains it, the spells are in actual English, and most likely any magician will have to get a real job after finishing school.
The story started off slow and at first I was a tad put off. Basically Carry-On is book 8 in this magical world but this is the first time read for all of us. But after a few chapters everything kinda started making sense but it was still slow. The story did not pick up till Baz made his appearance which was between a third to the midway point. Once that happen the story was really engaging and I could not put it down.
The banter between Simon and Baz was just great. Reading their love/hate relationship grow was totally worth reading. Really quite enjoyable and in true Rainbow Rowell fashion she knows how to create some worthwhile dialogue. Just Awesome.
What I didn't like was the constant change of POVs. Just way too many narrators and a few I could care less for. I honestly feel this might have been better written in just dual POVs or in third person. I believe not many authors could get away with it unless they were like Rainbow Rowell with an already huge built in fan base.
Overall this quite an enjoyable read and I would highly recommend it. The story was just fun.
