An introduction from Stephen King. I was not expecting that at all but was pretty delighted about it.

"On the cover of each SANDMAN issue the phrase "Suggested for mature readers" appears, and I'd argue that that didn't mean it's full of gore, sex and naughty words (although there are some of all those things, thank heavens) ; it means that if you're not old enough to chew this stuff for yourself, maybe you'd better go back to Spiderman, and the X-Men and the Fantastic Four a little longer." - Stephen King.

I'm happy to say while I enjoy Spiderman, Sandman has a very special place in my heart. This edition of Sandman was quite different and featured less of Morpheus. I've learn to expect the unexpected and feel it might reveal more in future issues.
Neil Gaiman is a masterful storyteller so I know I won't be disappointed.
Can't wait to read more.

My knowledge of Wonder Woman is very limited. I know she's an icon and much beloved but I never read anything about her.
Now that she's back in the public eye my curiosity lead me into picking up The Circle from the library. I really had high hopes but this graphic novel fell flat. I spent quite a bit confused and really not engaged.
The graphics were amazingly done and I did like Wonder Woman's sense of humor. I did learn more about her that were all new to me. I wish the delivery was better. I won't give up on Wonder Woman and hopefully get to read more about her.

Overall, this novel was okay but I feel it could have been better.

Just damn this graphic novel was AMAZING. My favorite Sandman to date. Just fu*k. I just loved it. Neil Gaiman has a way where he weaves a story beautifully. Not gonna lie, I am fan when Morpheus mingles with family. This edition was just nothing but that.

If you haven't read any Sandman novels then please start today. You will not be disappointed.

Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal by G. Willow Wilson

I had no idea what to expect with Ms.Marvel. I just know it kept showing up on those best lists for graphic novels. I also knew that the MC was a person of color which caught my interest. I was pleasantly surprised that the character is Pakistani and comes from a devout Muslim family.
I liked the fact that Kamala's dueled cultured played in this graphic novel. I found her struggle to live in both worlds refreshing to read. She just a fun character and I found myself rooting for her. I just liked her innocence and determination to help those in need even when it went against her family wishes.
My favorite part of her character is how much she was a true fangirl. She loved superheroes and was a dedicated fan. When she got to meet Wolverine I wanted to freak out with her because her reaction would have been mine. I loved that moment.
Now for the story I thought it was pretty good and a great introduction. The graphics were well done and very fun. I believe the target audience is aim at teens but adults will like it as well.
Overall a well written story that I would highly recommend.

Synopsis: Fables & Reflections (1993) is the sixth collection of issues in the DC Comics series, The Sandman. It was written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Bryan Talbot, Stan Woch, P. Craig Russell, Shawn McManus, John Watkiss, Jill Thompson, Duncan Eagleson, Kent Williams, Mark Buckingham, Vince Locke and Dick Giordano, coloured by Danny Vozzo and Lovern Kindzierski/Digital Chameleon, and lettered by Todd Klein. The introduction is written by Gene Wolfe.

The issues in the collection first appeared in 1991, 1992 and 1993. The collection first appeared in paperback and hardback in 1993.

The book contains four tales under the banner of "Distant Mirrors", containing Issue #29 "Thermidor", #30 "August", #31 "Three Septembers and a January" and #50 "Ramadan". Three of the issues making up the "Distant Mirrors" group were published between the "Season of Mists" and "A Game of You" story arcs. The last, "Ramadan", was written contemporaneously, but because of art delays DC published it as Issue #50, after the "Brief Lives" arc.

Three other issues appearing in Fables & Reflections, published as the Convergence story "arc", are also single-issue short stories. "Convergence" appeared between the "A Game of You" and "Brief Lives" story arcs. It contains Issues #38 "The Hunt", #39 "Soft Places" and #40 "The Parliament of Rooks".

The collection also includes the Sandman Special "The Song of Orpheus", retelling the Greek myth of Orpheus, and a brief piece from a Vertigo promotional comic.

Oh Neil Gaiman, you have a way with words that make my knees weak.

*sigh

Morpheus is back in this volume with a bang compared to the previous one. Freaking amazing and I think this might be one of my favorite editions. This time around we see Dream throughout pivotal moments in history and the writing was top notch. Each short story were completely different but were great in each way. Like all the previous novels the artwork was fantastic. I always like it when Dream's sibling especially Death make an appearance. Its always good to see Dream ruffled and unnerved. I actually wouldn't mind to learn more about them.

Highly recommend The Sandman to all horror fans.

I can't get enough of Buffy and I finally got around to reading Buffy Season 9. Vol4 which was a lot better than Vol 3.

Well this was a lot better than the last one. I liked the fact that more of the Scoobies made an appearance. That is always a positive. I am still trying to get used to Xander and Dawn being together. Still doesn't feel right even though its obvious they are in love with each other. The storyline in the issue was pretyy cool and interesting. The cliffhanger just made me want to read the next volume asap. As of right now season 9 is way better than the craziness of season 8.

I would recommend these graphic novels to any true Buffy fan.

Oh wow! Every time I think a line can not be crossed in a novel it gets crossed with Neil Gaiman. I had to put this graphic novel down a few times because I was just in shock. Gaiman sure knows how to push limits those limits and still weave a good story. Even though Morpheus wasn't much in this edition I still enjoyed it. The drawings were beautifully done and the writing was great.

I would recommend Sandman to any true horror fans.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

I freaking love Snoopy and if you're a fan than this edition is for you. I have always been a fan and have always read the Sunday edition of Peanuts. This time around the focus is on Snoopy the adorable, amazing beagle. The whole Peanut gang makes an appearances which just add to Snoopy's high jinxes.
I thought this edition was pretty funny and I did laugh out loud a couple of times. There are lots of stories with Snoopy The Flying Ace vs The Red Baron. Those were enjoyable but not always that funny. I think my favorites were Snoopy interactions with Charlie Brown and Lucy. Those were hilarious.
I highly recommend this for any Peanut fan. You won't be disappointed.

Death of Wolverine by Charles Soule

This was a flashback scene in the Death of Wolverine.

I have been waiting for quite some time to read Death of Wolverine. The last time I read a death of an iconic superhero was when Superman died back in the 90s. Now that was an epic telling and kept my standards really high. Now I know Wolverine wasn't going to get the same send off but I wasn't expecting his death to dealt in such a low luster manner. *sigh check out my review below of Death of Wolverine by Charles Soule.

I do heart Wolverine.

This was so freaking lame! This can not be how one of the greatest comic book heroes life ends. Such bull crap. I've been a fan of Wolverine since I was a kid but haven't been much of a comic book reader. Just picked it back up again last year.
I do remember reading Wolverine origin story (a decade ago) and really liking those issues so my expectations were really high for Wolverine's death. This was not how it was suppose to end. I don't want to really give spoilers but the big bad at the end was a let down. I understand the author wanted to make Logan's life go full circle but it did not meet expectations.
Honestly, I would not recommend this series to anyone. Just pretend it doesn't exist.

Fangirl moment as I channel Death.

If you've been following me at this year then you might have noticed that I started reading Sandman by Neil Gaiman. Even though I am late to the party these novels still hold up. I really don't feel they are dated at all which is awesome. I can't say enough how much I enjoy them and can't wait to read more.

My crush for the Sandman/Dream continues and this is hands down my favorite volume so far. Just thought the storytelling was fantastic and unique. Thor, Ordin, Angels, Lucifer , Loki, Fairies, other mythical creatures including his siblings all make an appearance I have a soft spot for Death. I just truly enjoyed this story of Dream having to go back to hell and the fallout of hell closing. Even the short story of Charles Rowland was fantastic and it added so much to this volume.

"I think hell's something you carry around with you. Not somewhere you go."

The artwork is amazing yet at times frightening. Just damn.

I highly recommend these graphic novels. It's never to late to join the party. (Took me almost 20 years)

About ME!

I was born a long time ago in a hospital in Houston At least that's the story that was told to me. I can't recall these details so I can't say with 100% accuracy that its true.

Fast forward some years and I'm an adult women who has a passion for reading. Some might say its unhealthy. Those people suck and should burn in fiery pit. My passion for reading lead me into running the best book club in Houston. I also like to attend author signings. I don't consider that stalking if the author advertised the event. Now when I'm outside their window that might be another story but lets not get into semantics. .

I enjoy reading a lot of different genres from traditionally and indie published books. I don't go out of my way to check how a book was published. If the book captures my interest then that is good enough for me to read. Now that being said I will review books in the genres below:

YA: Paranormal, dystopian, contemporary,
Adult fiction: women lit, historical fiction, comedy,
sci fi- apocalyptic, hard science fiction, and space opera.
