My Review
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 Platypires for If I Ever Get Out Of Here
Ever since I read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, I have been enamored with Native American stories. But stories set in mostly modern times. While this book was set in the 70s it didn't feel dated. I mean, who doesn't love the Beatles which by the way was very important aspect of this novel.
The story was just riveting and I couldn't put the book down. I actually lost sleep because I wanted to know it all played out. The story is pretty realistic and I felt like I have a better understanding on life on the reservation. The story is a coming of age novel that deals with racism, friendships and family.
I was actually sad to see the story end and I know I really like a book when I go into research mode. I just had to know more about the Tuscarora Indians.
Overall this was a great book. It had its funny moments and its oh so real moments. I would highly recommend this book to everybody.
