Synopsis
Broken Wheel, Iowa, has never seen anyone like Sara, who traveled all the way from Sweden just to meet her pen pal, Amy. When she arrives, however, she finds that Amy's funeral has just ended. Luckily, the townspeople are happy to look after their bewildered tourist—even if they don't understand her peculiar need for books. Marooned in a farm town that's almost beyond repair, Sara starts a bookstore in honor of her friend's memory.
All she wants is to share the books she loves with the citizens of Broken Wheel and to convince them that reading is one of the great joys of life. But she makes some unconventional choices that could force a lot of secrets into the open and change things for everyone in town. Reminiscent of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, this is a warm, witty book about friendship, stories, and love.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was immediately intrigued by the cover of this book and the title. A book about books. My favorite topic. I also took a strong liking to Sara who comes to Iowa from Sweden to meet her pen-pal Amy. Only to to discover Amy died a few days before her arrival. Oh what a set up! lol!
Readers Of Broken Wheel Recommend is one of those feel good type of books. Its light reading with some interesting fun characters.
My biggest complaint is that even though this book is about books. I felt it was too much. It took away from the actual story. I also felt their were too many spoilers to the point I had to put the book down. Frankly I was pretty pissed off. Granted some of the books were "classics" but I still felt the author still shouldn't reveal the ending. Not everybody has read all the books. This was why I had to downgrade the book by one star. Just not cool.
Overall I really did like this book and think other book lovers would enjoy it.
